Definition:
Within the technology employed by Google’s search engine, a snippet is a small sample of web content that is displayed to users on the results page. This snippet displays information about what can be found at that address, including a title, URL, a short description, and, depending on the page, additional information.
The Rich Snippets
In addition to snippets, there are “rich snippets“, which provide detailed information to help users with specific queries, helping them recognize when your site is relevant to their search. To display them, Google looks for flagged formats (microformats and RDFa) that webmasters can add to their web pages to make structured data available to Google searches.
