Characteristics of Podcasting
Podcasting is similar in nature to RSS, which allows users to subscribe to a set of feeds to view the content of a syndicated website. With podcasting however, you have a system of subscriptions that are regularly checked for updates and instead of reading the feeds on the screen, you listen to the new content on an audio device.
Podcasting Format
The format used for podcasting is RSS 2.0 with enclosures. Podcasting enclosures refer to all binary downloads (without text). You can read the text description of the enclosure before downloading the item for viewing.
