In Web Analytics, an event is an action or event detected by a program. Events can be user actions, such as clicking a mouse button or pressing a key, or they can be events on the system, such as running out of memory. Most modern applications, especially those that work in Macintosh and Windows environments, are said to be event-targeted, as they are designed to respond to events.
Events in web analytics
In web analytics, an event is a discrete action or class of actions that occurs on a website or in an app. Events are tagged to mark interactions within the web or app and that are collected in the web analytics tool.
Within the events can be framed clicks, form submissions, keystroke events, and other user actions performed by the customer.
Events are typically categorized with dimensions such as category, option, and label.
