Google Street View<\/strong> is a Google Maps feature that lets users explore streets, roads and selected spaces through ground-level 360-degree panoramic imagery. The panoramas are linked to map locations so that users can observe an area and move visually between connected points.<\/p>\n

The imagery comes from Google and contributors, which can be checked in each panorama’s attribution. Street View is not a live broadcast: photographs are captured and processed beforehand, so they may not reflect the current state of a place.<\/p>\n\n

Google Street View history and evolution<\/h2>\n

Google launched Street View in 2007 with imagery from several cities in the United States. The service later expanded to other countries and to places that the capture car could not reach, using equipment such as Trekker and other portable systems or cameras mounted on different vehicles.<\/p>\n

The collection also contains panoramas contributed by users and organizations. Google subsequently added historical imagery for supported locations, allowing users to compare how a street or building changed between different dates. Coverage, image age and the dates available vary by location.<\/p>\n

How Street View imagery is created<\/h2>\n

Building a navigable journey combines photographic capture, positioning and processing:<\/p>\n

  4. Connection:<\/strong> nearby panoramas are linked so that users can move forward, turn and change direction.<\/li>\n
  5. Publication:<\/strong> the processed collection is added to Google Maps with its date and attribution when those details are available.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The result depends on geolocation<\/a> and capture quality. Stitching can produce distortions, repeated objects or imperfect transitions; these effects do not mean that the original scene had that shape.<\/p>\n

    How to use Google Street View<\/h2>\n

    Street View can be opened by searching for an address or place in Google Maps<\/a>, selecting a compatible photograph or dragging Pegman, the yellow icon, onto the map. Blue lines show roads with navigable coverage, while other contributions may appear as individual panoramas.<\/p>\n
